Transportation Emergency Response Officer
What you’ll be doing
To ensure an effective and timely response to transportation and fleet emergencies by monitoring vehicle movements, identifying potential risks, and coordinating immediate actions during incidents involving trucks, drivers, and the transport of Dangerous Goods (DG) or chemicals.
This role requires a strong understanding of trucking operations, tracking systems, and emergency communication. The incumbent must effectively coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to minimize safety, environmental, and operational impacts.
Incident Assessment: Conduct initial incident assessments using tracking data, driver communications, and on-site information to determine the emergency level and required response.
Response Coordination: Manage emergency actions including driver assistance, evacuations, spill control, medical response, and traffic management.
Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact to coordinate response efforts with internal departments and external emergency services.
Compliance & Standards: Ensure all incident responses strictly follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Dangerous Goods (DG) regulations, and legal requirements.
Reporting: Maintain real-time communication updates and provide accurate incident status reports until the situation is fully resolved.
Post-Incident Analysis: Assist in post-incident activities, including reporting, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), implementing corrective actions, and managing follow-ups with third-party providers.
Preparedness: Lead and participate in inspections, audits, emergency drills, simulations, and evaluations to ensure organizational readiness.
Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all emergency response equipment is fully functional and readily available for immediate use.
Availability: Must be available 24/7 on-call to respond to emergencies as they arise.
What we’re looking for :
Education: Bachelor’s Degree (S1) in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety (K3), or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience specifically handling Dangerous Goods (DG) or chemical transportation incidents.
Technical Expertise: Proven experience in handling live emergency conditions (e.g., fires, explosions, injuries, traffic accidents, and chemical spills).
Management Systems: Strong understanding of OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001.
Core Skills: Strong communication, a high sense of responsibility, and the ability to work under extreme pressure.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical thinking, independent problem-solving, and the ability to analyze complex data sets.
Communication: Highly proactive with the ability to create and deliver professional presentations to management.
Soft Skills: Excellent time management and the initiative to drive continuous improvement.
Required Certifications :
“Class B Fire Fighting” Certification.
Basic Emergency Response / Emergency Handling Training.
Basic Safety and Fire, Basic First Aid, and Basic Rescue training.
Quality Standards: Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 9001.
